Mozambique is located on the south-eastern coast of Africa and is bordered by Tanzania to the North, South Africa and Swaziland to the South, Zimbabwe to the West and Zambia and Malawi to the North-West. Much of the country is covered with savanna and palm trees grow widely along the coast and near the rivers.

The climate is tropical throughout, more humid along the coast and dryer inland. The coast has a number of mangrove swamps.

The town of Inhambane existed in the 10th century. Visited by Vasco da Gama in 1498, who claimed Inhambane Bay for Portugal. The Portuguese established a trading post at Inhambane in 1534.

The Inhambane Bay area is of some interest for the tourism with a number of beaches and one of the last remaining populations of dugong in Mozambique. Take a trip on a dhow, an absolute must. Cathedrals, Old colonial Portuguese architecture, African culture and local markets make it all an interesting town to browse around.

And about 45km from the town of Inhambane you will find the most attractive diving site GUINJATA BAY one of the world's top 10 dive sites, which offer you a truly unforgettable diving holiday on white palm fringed beaches and warm crystal clear waters.

This destination is paradise for divers having endless coral reefs and an array of marine life.

Bar & Restaurant
The main restaurant with a la Carte menu and sports bar with satellite TV for sporting events operate all year round. A beach bar and restaurant operates in high season.

Manta Reef
This reef is approximately 12 km north of the launch site and can only be reached when the sea is relatively calm. There are 2 diving sites on this reef ranging from 18-35 meters on the outer ledge: -

Manta Pinnacle & The Canyon
Situated in the main current, of manta and devil rays. Manta Pinnacle has 3 cleaning stations that provide the reef with manta rays all year round.

Paindane
This reef starts close to shore and runs down to 35m, sightings of reef fish on one side and game fish on the other and lionfish can be seen on one spot. The inner side of the reef is well protected and provides almost pool like conditions for snorkeling.

Island Rock
This reef is about 6kms south of Paindane. Whale Sharks are spotted here on a regular basis.

Whale Sharks are seen near the Resort area all year round but being more plentiful during the months September to May. Fantastic photographic opportunity, you may even be lucky to have some dolphins join you on the dive.

Humpback Whales can also be seen during the months of May through October.

All visitors need visas, which are good for 3 months and proof of onward travel

The Metical.. The use of US$ or South African Rand is recommended.

Credit Cards are only accepted in some restaurants in Maputo and also in the more upmarket hotels.

Health requirements
Malaria medication and insect repellents are recommended for travelling to Mozambique.
